The last three days of this past week I felt were "sink or swim" days. Either I was going to get it or not. I taught the lessons on Thursday and Friday for my Spanish class and they went very well. I was a little surprised. I am really loving using the TPRS method to teach a second language. It is a method that uses story telling to teach a second language and I have seen it work really well!
My lessons in Language Arts went pretty well too. Thursday was fine, the kids enjoyed the lesson, and Friday was interesting. My Co-op was at her conference on Friday and so I had the kids to myself the whole day. Man did they test me. I decided Thurday night that I would bring candy to school on Friday to bribe them, like any good teacher does, and it worked for the most part. I told them at the beginning of class that if they were good and used thier work time well, then they would all get a Jolly Rancher at the end of the period. All of my classes did well and got their reward/bribe except for one class. I felt bad because it was really only one student that was being disruptive in the clas, but I stuck to my word and told them to try better next week. Hopefully I'll see a turn around.
