Day 1: BLS

Today was my first day at Baltimore Lutheran School (BLS), and it was amazing. The other student teachers and I went on a tour of the school, met all of the staff and faculty, and got to spend the rest of the day with our cooperating teachers in their classrooms. I can already tell that I am going to have a wonderful time here!

My Spanish Co-op is Julie Schafer, the teacher from BLS that went on the mission trip with my church's youth group to Saltillo, Mexico back in 2003. I will be working with her 1st period Spanish 1 students which consists of 2 seniors, a couple juniors, several sophomores, and several freshmen. It will be an interesting mix of students, but nothing I can't handle. I am so excited to be working with her and know that I am going to learn a lot.

My Language Arts Co-op is Rosie Walbert. She reminds me of a family friend, Kathy Schwartz, and is very kind and passionate about her subject. She told me today that she will be gone this Friday because she is attending a conference on The Writing Workshop taught by Nancy Atwell! I am so excited for her and so jealous! She uses many of the writing workshop elements in her classroom with the 6th and 7th graders so it will be exciting to see that at work in classroom again.

Thanks for reading, and God's blessings!
